COMPOUND WORDS are words created from two different words such as watchdog.  Today you'll be illustrating compound words in an unusual way.  Do as many as you can and label your post as COMPOUND WORD 1, COMPOUND WORD 2, etc.

LESSON SEVENTEEN

OK here is today's special assignment.  Remember the photograph that I took of you earlier this week?  Well you're going to use it in order to "FACE YOUR MONSTER."  You're going to create a monster from your own face.  Download your photograph from my other blog.  Here is the address:  http://onlinetechnologyworkshops.blogspot.com/
Import it into PhotoImpact and use any or all of the tools you have been introduced to in order to transform yourself into a monster.  Upload your original photo and the monster photo to your blog.  Do not put your name on it or mention it is a photo of you. Oh, did I mention that this is another contest?  Mr. Mark Coleman who judged the movie poster teaches at Bladen Community College.  His Web Graphics class with judge this contest.  Hopefully they will choose first place, second and one honorable mention.  Well good luck and take all the time you need on this assignment.  If two students are sharing a computer, both must do their own monsters.  Upload both and label the post as Face Your Monster.  Below you will find an example of my monster.

LESSON SIXTEEN

Levitation? Have you ever heard of that word? You may have heard of it as far as magicians are concerned. Lots of them do levitation tricks or tricks in which they cause objects to float. Well today you're going to cause various things to float in a picture. Below you will see two very good examples of what I'm referring to. Decide on what you want to float and then make it happen in your picture. Think very carefully before you start and then be as creative as you can. And by the way, make it look as realistic as possible.

MOVIE POSTER CONTEST RESULTS

Well my friend, Mark, has finally critiqued all the entries of the movie poster contest. By the way, Mark is presently teaching Web Graphics at Bladen Community College.  Below are his results.  To the three winners congratulations.  To the rest of you, I applaud you all for a wonderful job.

Elizabeth,

Your poster definitely exemplifies the phrase “A picture is worth a thousand words.”  If you would not have added the title, the catch phrase that you used on the poster instead already gives a big clue as to what your movie is about. You did a wonderful job altering the appearance of Ben Afleck. The dark areas  on the face of Kate Winslet also give somewhat of a clearer picture of what the movie is about. The blending of Ben Afleck in the background and bringing Kate Winslet to the foreground of the poster was a good idea. This is definitely an indication to the audience that the movie is centered around Kate Winslet’s character. You did a wonderful job Elizabeth and you should give yourself a pat on the back.

Your poster definitely captured my attention with the red font you used for your title. The effect of the blood dripping down from each letter is eye catching to say the least. I liked the way you divided the characters; using four on the left and on the right. To me, that is a giveaway that something is going to happen to four of characters in the movie. Overall, a good use of space and color. Excellent job Carla!

Loved the font style and font color you used. You did an excellent job manipulating the characters and background image. Would love to have seen the names of the characters on poster. This would have given the audience some idea of who was starring in the movie.  Overall, you guys did a good job and should be commended for your work.

I love the work you guys did with the characters. Based on your movie description, you tried to match the look of the character with its role in the movie. That was an awesome idea. Great job Shaq and Juan!

The font style and color goes well with your poster. It really stands out and grabs the attention of your audience which is what you want to do. I would love to have seen you add more to the poster.  This would have really sparked interest in the movie. Overall, you did a really good job with this project.

You should be applauded for you efforts on this project. You have selected a terrific background image. I would have liked to see you blend the top image into the background. This would have added a scarier effect. Also, the title of your movie is hard to read. The movie title would have looked really nice on the background of the poster; possibly using a red font color. Overall, if allowed by Mr. Hewett, redo your poster and have him send it to me so that I can share it with some of my Web graphics students.

I like the manipulation of Angelina Jolie. I am however somewhat confused with the background. I would suggest possibly changing the background image.  Try to select something that would be a little more noticeable and goes along with your movie title. Great effort on this project!

Love the use of what appears to be flames and smoke as part of your title text. This gives the impression of a very dark and frightening movie. Also, great job manipulating the background! I can tell you that you put a lot of work and effort into this assignment. Great job!

Your post has a suspenseful feel to it. This is all due in part to the background/ location image.  The red font color goes great with the back ground. I can also see where you placed a cross in the Chuck Norris image. This is an eye-catching poster and if this was an actual movie, I would definitely pay to see it. Good job!
