You all should be familiar with what logos are since we are bombarded with them everyday of our lives. A logo is a symbol that we recognize a particular brand of merchandise by. A perfect example is the Nike swoosh. Well today you're going to be asked to design a logo for a company of your choice. Click on the link below to find today's lesson. In it are several fake companies. You are to choose one and design a logo for it. I have an example at the bottom of the page. Good luck and be creative. Save this as a jpeg.

WORK TO DO ON FRIDAY

Fridays will be the day I check everyone's blog to make sure they have completed all assignments. If you haven't you may use class today in order to make up any projects not yet completed. If you have use today's class to really shine and amaze me with your own project - anything you want to do. Be creative. Use any or all of the tools we have used so far or go back to any of the online tools that we used in the computer lab and do another project with them. This can be used as extra credit. Don't just sit there and waste time and definitely don't let me catch you playing any kind of online games. Be productive.

LESSON THREE

I have two assignments for you to do. 1) You are going to create a haunted house and 2) you are going to create a monster of some sort that lives in it.
Go to the following URL and copy the picture of this house: http://photos.igougo.com/pictures-photos-p304423-Old_House.html You will do like we did yesterday in class. Right click on it and then copy. Open up a new sheet in PhotoImpact and right click paste. You may have to crop it or enlarge it like we did. Don't forget to Merge All before you start to turn it into a haunted house.
Then click on the following link to go to the picture above: http://iikrayzee.blogspot.com/ Once you do I want you to turn this man into the monster that lives in your haunted house. Remember you can use any of the tools we have used thus far such as 2D and 3D Path Drawing Tools, Outline Path Drawing Tools, and all the Paint Tools. Don't forget the hidden treasures in the Easy Palette such as fire, lightning, etc. Save these as "Haunted House" and "Monster" in your folder as jpegs. Or you may combine the two photos into one. Can't wait to see what you create.

LESSON ONE

This lesson will help you become familiar with the text tool in PhotoImpact. There are lots of things that you can do with just type. I hope you will be impressed because this is an awesome program. Read the entire lesson and make sure you do all the exercises. I will ask to see your work. If you have any questions feel free to ask me but ONLY after you have read the lesson. Don't expect me to show you what to do and how to do it so you won't have to read the instructions. This class does NOT work that way.
Click here today's lesson on Type.
Good luck.

WELCOME TO ARTS AND TECHNOLOGY 2011

Welcome to all my new students in Arts and Technology for the 2011 fall semester. For a while I was beginning to wonder whether we would ever get started with PhotoImpact 8 or not. But now we're in the art lab and I hope you are all ready to work with and learn a wonderful program. This blog is where your lessons will be located. So every morning after doing the Bell Ringer you should go to this site and begin work. You MUST read the lessons in their entirety. Don't expect me to assist you with something that you should have gotten by reading the lesson. Read first and then ask me questions later. All work will be saved in your document, a flash drive or on your own blog. We will discuss this later.
So good luck and I hope you enjoy this course as much as the students in the past have.
